If you're in Arbutus after dark, there's just one place on the main drag that's always hopping--well, hopping in an Arbutian sort of way--and that's Sorrento. It's a brightly lit casual place with the ambience of a high-school hangout, and with a massive menu featuring everything from carryout-style fare (fried chicken, pizza) to diner-type dishes (hot roast beef with gravy, fried shrimp dinners) to homestyle specialties (chicken and veal parmigiana, stuffed shells). And did we mention that everything'sso cheap? We stopped in on a recent Friday night and ordered up a half steak and cheese sub ($4.85), a side of fries ($2.80), and a chicken parm dinner ($7.75). The portions were certainly hearty--probably more than we needed at 10 p.m. on a Friday night. The half steak was bigger than a lot of full-size subs we've ordered elsewhere, and the chicken parm dinner (which was really flavorful) was served on top of a heaping mound of spaghetti with a side of garlic bread. Sorrento also has a bar, right alongside of the order counter, and if you eat in, you can have draft Yuengling or Bud with your meal. Overall, our experience at Sorrento Of Arbutus was Great!
